About the Subject

Chemistry is the branch of science that studies the composition,structure,properties and change of matter. Chemistry is some times called as the central science because it bridges other natural sciences like physics, geology and Biology.the word Chemistry comes from the word alchemy, an alchemist was called a Chemist in popular speech, and latter the suffix ‘ry’ was added to this to describe the arts of chemist as Chemistry. Chemistry has tremendous scope and a very bright future. Students who are pursuing their career in Chemistry have golden opportunities waiting for them.

The scope of chemistry in various field like Teaching fields,Research fields, Industries.Fire services, Civil services. chemistry graduate are recruited by pharmaceutical companies as medical representative.they are also eligible for BARC entranceexamination for recruitment as Scientists jobs as scientists of various denomination are available through entrance examinationin CSIR, DRDO, ONGC, and other scientific organization after post –graduation in chemistry.some companies recruit fresh graduate as management trainees and give them on-the-job training.

About Department

Chemistry Department of our college was established in year 2000 by considering the need of rural and tribal student of the region. The Department has well-furnished and well- equipped laboratory with all necessary instrument like Spectrophotometer, PH-meter, Conductivity meter, Potentiometer, Colorimeter, Centrifuge machine, Hot plate magnetic stirrer. Student strength in this Department is highest in the college. The department has full- fill teaching staff and they are interested in research activity. The faculty member published total 12 research paper in the national and international journals. The faculty member has join membership in ISCA, IAAB, ISTE. They are also the member of “Amravati chemistry teacher association”

* Strength
  • Harmonious Collaboration among faculty and students.
  • Is to maintain Healthy teacher - student relation.
  • Department have well educated, well experienced faculty.
* Weakness

Students with good academic rank or percentage prefer technical subjects such as computer science. So the students admitted to this department are either slow learner or low meritorious.

* Opportunities

The candidates offer completing UG. And P.G. will secure job such in teaching and research field. So as enhance the teaching learning ability of the student and make them familiar with scientific attitude as to create scientific temperament among students.

Students are encouraged to take up higher studies along with necessary help will be provided for taking admission. Proper counseling is made for them.

* Challenges

Most of the Students belong to villages and from farmer’s families; therefore regularity of students is satisfactory, not the best. It affects their studies. To overcome on this problem is a challenge. To develop punctuality in them is also a challenge.

* Future Plan
  • To run the minor and major research project in the department.
  • To get recognition as Research Laboratory through university. Thus increase research activity in department.
  • To organize National level conference on recent trends in research in Chemistry.
  • To start PG course in chemistry
